DAY 2 RECAP – THANKSGIVING FESTIVAL

KITCHENER, ON – Today was the second day of camp as Team Red prepares for its game vs. Russia (5pm ET) tomorrow and Team White will face Sweden (7:30pm ET) at the Kitchener Auditorium (Kinsmen). The tempo of practice picked up significantly as both squads are eagerly anticipating the upcoming games. Both the Red and the White teams skated twice each in order to regain their mid season conditioning. Head Coach Melody Davidson is pleased with how focused the players have been thus far, “The athletes are very focused, and have shown the coaching staff that they came here with the intention of competing for a spot on our roster.”

Veteran forward Hayley Wickenheiser has been impressed with the younger core of players so far, “It is nice to see the next generation of players coming in here and competing for jobs. It has pushed the veteran players and sets a good tempo for our practices. Every year they seem to get bigger, faster, and stronger. It shows that young Canadian players are committed and believe in the program.”

Attendance is free to both games, with fans encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation to the Kitchener Food Bank when entering.
