CALGARY, AB – Canada’s National Men’s Sledge Team will take its 5-1 record into Japan between January 22nd
and 26th during a four-team tournament in Asahikawa.
Canada swept its three-game series versus Team USA in November and went 2-1 against Norway during their
series in October. The tournament in Asahikawa also includes Japan, Norway and Team USA.
Canada will hold a pre-competition camp on January 17th and 18th at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex
in B.C.
Jeff Snyder (Elmira, ON) is Canada’s head coach for the 2007-08 season, while Shawn Frydberg (Concord, ON)
is Canada’s assistant.
“This is our most important event of the season outside of the IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship,” says
Snyder. “We will be using this event as a major tuneup in preparation of the sledge worlds, which will be
held March 29th-April 5th in Marlborough, MA.”
The tournament in Japan is the second to last event before the worlds. Canada will play host to Team USA
for a three-game series between February 20th and 24th in Edmonton, AB.
