NATIONAL SLEDGE TEAM
Canada’s National Men’s Sledge Team has a number of achievements to its credit including two
world championships (2000, 2008), one Paralympic gold medal (2006), one World Sledge Hockey Challenge gold
medal (2007) and two World Cup championships (1991, 1992).
Since gaining full member status from Hockey Canada in 2003 (it had been an associate member since 1993),
meaning it now fell under the direct supervision of Hockey Canada, the National Sledge Team has excelled,
winning the 2006 Paralympic gold medal in Italy, the first-ever World Sledge Hockey Challenge in Kelowna, BC
in March 2007 and a gold medal at the 2008 IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship in the USA » history and facts
