CORNWALL, ON – Hockey Canada announced on Thursday that ticket packages are now on sale for the 2008 RBC
Cup, Canada’s National Junior A Championship, taking place from May 3-11 in Cornwall, ON, with all games
taking place at the Cornwall Civic Complex.
A full tournament package, including all 10 round-robin games, both semi-finals and the championship game,
is available in advance of the championship for $140. Individual game tickets are not yet available for the
2008 RBC Cup.

"Working closely with Hockey Canada, the organizing committee for the 2008 RBC Cup has its nose to the
grindstone in preparing for this prestigious event,” said Candy Pollard, chair of the event host
committee. “The next several months will provide local businesses and volunteers with many opportunities
to become involved in the event. Cornwall is a great host community, and the 2008 RBC Cup gives us
another opportunity to work together and do what we do best."
"The entire organization is excited to play host to Canada's most prestigious Junior A tournament,” said
Mike Piquette, manager of business and hockey operations for the Cornwall Colts of the Central Junior A
Hockey League, the host team for the 2008 RBC Cup. “The City of Cornwall has been successful in hosting
various sporting events, but none will compare to the magnitude of the 2008 RBC Cup.”
NEW NAME, LOGO ANNOUNCED
Hockey Canada has also announced a new name and logo for Canada’s National Junior A Championship, with the
event becoming known as the RBC Cup starting with the 2008 championship,
Originally known as the Centennial Cup from its inception in 1970, the National Junior A Championship
became the RBC Royal Bank Cup in 1996.
"RBC is proud to be a long standing supporter of amateur hockey and looks forward to another season of
competition for the RBC Cup,” said Alan Depencier, RBC’s director of sponsorship marketing. “We are excited
to see the best teams from across Canada vie for the national championship in Cornwall in May 2008."
The 2007 RBC Royal Bank Cup in Prince George, BC generated more than $3.8 million in economic activity for
the province of British Columbia, more than $2.5 million of which occurred in Prince George. In addition, the
championship attracted more than 1,200 visitors to the northern B.C. city.
