PRINCE GEORGE, BC – Team Canada White won the International Women’s Fall Festival on Saturday night at the
Prince George Coliseum, with a 4-0 victory over Team Canada Red.
Kelly Bechard (Sedley, SK/Mississauga, NWHL) had a natural hat trick for Team White, scoring two goals in
the second period and one in the third. Tessa Bonhomme (Sudbury, ON/Ohio State University, WCHA) got Team
White’s other goal and also had an assist. Jennifer Botterill (Winnipeg, MB/Mississauga, NWHL) had two
assists for Team White and Courtney Birchard (Mississauga, ON/Toronto, PWHL) and Gina Kingsbury
(Rouyn-Noranda, QC/Calgary, WWHL) chipped in with single assists.
Charline Labonte (Boisbriand, QC/McGill, CIS) and Laura Hosier (Sharon, ON/Mercyhurst College, CHA) split
the shutout in Team White’s net.
The International Women’s Fall Festival brought together 40 of Canada’s top female hockey players and they
were split into two teams – Red and White. Sweden’s National Women’s Team also was part of the tournament.
The event served as an evaluation camp for the National Women’s Team coaching staff heading into the 2007-08
season.
Hockey Canada would like to thank the City of Prince George and Hockey B.C. for playing host to this
event.
Team Canada will compete at the 2007 4 Nations Cup in November in Sweden, then will hold a January
evaluation camp in Calgary and will conclude its season at the 2008 IIHF World Women’s Hockey Championship on
Harbin, China.
