Seven players scored goals and 11 recorded at least a point as the United States ended the
two-year reign of Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge, claiming the gold medal with a 7-1 win over
the Canadians. Under Armour® Undeniable MVP Mike Cichy scored once and added an assist in the win, giving him
a tournament-leading 10 points.

BRONZE MEDAL | SUN. NOV. 9
Reilly Smith scored three times and added an assist while Pierre-Luc Lacombe had two goals
and two helpers as Canada East claimed the bronze medal with a 9-1 win over Belarus. The Canadians have won a
medal at all three World Junior A Challenges.

Brodie Reid scored twice, both on the powerplay, as Canada West kept its hopes of a World
Junior A Challenge three-peat alive with a 4-1 semifinal victory over Belarus. Canada West improved to 10-2
all-time at the tournament with the victory.

For the first time in the three-year history of the WJAC, the gold medal game will not be an
all-Canadian affair. Eleven players recorded at least one point as the United States advanced to Sunday’s
final with a 5-1 semifinal win over Canada East.

5th PLACE | SAT. NOV. 8
Stanislav Bocharov had a hat trick and Kirill Kabanov added a goal and two assists as Russia
claimed fifth place with an 8-2 win over Russia. The Russians scored six unanswered goals after Jerome Flaake
had opened the scoring 90 seconds in for the Germans.
