WINNIPEG – Hockey Canada announced on Saturday that the City of Victoria and the Victoria Grizzlies of the
BCHL have been awarded the right to play host to the 2009 RBC Royal Bank Cup, Canada’s National Junior A
Championship.
The site was approved by Hockey Canada’s Board of Directors on Sunday during its AGM.
The other communities which bid for the 2009 championship were Lloydminster, AB, Winnipeg, MB and the
Battlefords in Saskatchewan.
The 2009 RBC Royal Bank Cup will be held at the Bear Mountain Arena in May 2009.
“Junior council heard the details of four solid presentations on Saturday,” said Scott Farley, Hockey
Canada’s Director of Marketing Services/Events. “This championship continues to grow every year and with that
comes an increase in interest in hosting the RBC Royal Bank Cup. Victoria put together a great bid and we’re
