LEKSAND, SWE – Canada’s National Junior Team has advanced to the semi-finals of the 2007 IIHF World Junior
Championship following a 3-0 win over Slovakia. The Canadians finished with a perfect 4-0 in the round robin
– the fifth consecutive year they have gone undefeated in the preliminary round.
Kris Russell (Caroline, AB/ Medicine Hat, WHL) scored twice while Carey Price (Anahim Lake, BC/ Tri-City,
WHL) made 32 saves for his second shutout of the World Juniors as Canada beat Slovakia 3-0 on Sunday. Steve
Downie (Queensville, ON/ Peterborough, ON) also scored for Canada.
Canada will now face the winner of the Finland/USA quarterfinal in one semi-final on Wednesday, January
3rd. Both quarter-finals will be played on Tuesday, January 2nd. The quarter-final schedule is as
follows:

13:30 pm (ET)/ 19:30 pm (local) B2 (Finland) vs. A3 (USA) Mora
The schedule for the semi-finals will be finalized by the IIHF Directorate following the quarter-finals.
