ITECH and Hockey Canada would like to congratulate Josh Murtland of Simcoe, ON and Leandro Serrano of
Calgary, AB for winning this year’s Team Canada Design-A-Mask Contest. Their unique Canadian-themed
designs were chosen from among 1,400 participants, and will now be featured on the masks of Team Canada’s
goalies during the upcoming 2007 IIHF World Junior Championship in Leksand and Mora, Sweden, from December
26th to January 5th.
"The goaltenders for Canada’s National Junior Team will be proud to wear these creative mask
designs," said Brad Pascall - Senior Director of Men's National Teams for Hockey Canada. He
continues, "We would like to congratulate this year's winners and tell them how proud our goaltenders
will be to add this 'Canadian flair' to their uniform."
As an added bonus for their participation, Josh and Leandro will be receiving their very own replica
custom-painted ITECH masks, autographed by members of the Canadian National Junior Team. When ITECH first
contacted Josh and Leandro with the good news, they couldn’t believe they had won.“It’s exciting to think
that Canada's top goaltenders will be sweating it out in a mask featuring my artwork,” said nine-year-old
Leandro, whose design was inspired by the Northern Lights and the NHL's Calgary Flames. He continues, “I hope
years from now they will still remember wearing my design with great pride.” Josh, 17 years of age, was very
excited and cannot wait to see his design featured on TSN, who will be broadcasting all of Canada's games
LIVE starting Dec. 26th. “Watching this year’s World Junior Championship will be even better than last year’s
event, especially knowing that the best Junior goalie in Canada is out there putting on a great show wearing
the mask featuring my design”.
Congratulations once again to both winners. Be sure to visit hockeycanada.ca and Itech.com for more
information and be sure to enter next year’s Design-A-Mask contest for your chance to make Canadian hockey
history!
Be sure to tune in to TSN/RDS on December 26th as Canada will take on Sweden in its first game of the 2006
World Juniors at 1:00pm ET/ 10:00am PT. Cheer on Canada in their quest for gold!
