Kenora (ON) - The National Women’s Team Fall Festival is more than just a High Performance Camp. Hockey
Canada’s Ontario Regional Centre along with the Ontario Women’s Hockey Assocation (OWHA) held some
development camps for local minor hockey players.
On Saturday, players from the Lake of the Woods Minor Hockey Association in Northwestern Ontario took part in
a Hockey Canada Skills Camp held at the Keewatin Arena. The Hockey Canada Skills Camp program is celebrating
its 10th anniversary this year. The camp was open to all atom and pee-wee female players in the Lake of the
Woods Association. Almost sixty layers participated in two on-ice and two off-ice sessions and received
Hockey Canada jerseys for coming to the camp.
Following the Skills Camp, Hockey Canada and the OWHA hosted an Esso Fun Day in the afternoon. Esso Fun
Days allow all women and girls, regardless of age, to get on the ice and learn about the game in a fun
environment. There is no doubt that the legacy of this Fall Festival event will be continued growth of the
female game in Kenora and Northwestern Ontario.
For more information about Hockey Canada’s development programs be sure to check out the ‘Players’ and
‘Female Hockey’ section of the Hockey Canada website at www.hockeycanada.ca
