PIESTANY, SLOVAKIA – Canada’s National Summer Under-18 Team will face USA in the 2006 Under-18
Junior World Cup (Ivan Hlinka Memorial) Championship Game in Breclav, Czech Republic on Saturday, August 12th
at 7pm (local)/ 1pm (ET). Canada finished the round robin portion of the event with a 3-0-0 record,
finishing in first place in Group B with 9 points (based on all three wins coming in regulation time),
including a 4-1 win over Slovakia on Thursday night in Piestany, Slovakia.
Canada has won nine of the past 10 Summer Under-18 events and won the Junior World Cup in 2005 and in
2004.
NOTE- The 2006 Junior World Cup Championship Game will not be broadcasted on television or radio.

Bryan Cameron (Brampton, ON/ Belleville, OHL) scored twice and Canada outshot Slokakia 49-19 en route to a
4-1 victory. Brett Sonne (Maple Ridge, BC/ Calgary, WHL) and Logan MacMillan (Winsloe, PE/ Halifax,
QMJHL) scored the other goals for Canada.
In Group A, USA advanced to the Championship game with a 4-3 overtime over Russia. The new format at
the Under-18 Junior World Cup has the winners of the Groups during the round robin advancing directly to the
Championship Game.

NATIONAL SUMMER UNDER-18 TEAM RETURN INFORMATION
Players and staff with Canada’s National Summer Under-18 Team will be returning to Canada on Sunday,
August 13th. The flight itinerary for the players and staff members’ final destinations is as
follows. The entire team is flying through Toronto, but only those staying in the Toronto area will be
available to media due to flight connections. Flight itineraries are subject to change.

Canada’s National Summer Under-18 Team is one of two Under-18 Teams that Hockey Canada operates on an
annual basis. In April, Canada’s World Championship Under-18 Team, comprised of players and staff members not
involved in their respective league playoffs, will attend the 2007 IIHF World Under-18
Championship.
NOTE TO MEDIA – For media interview requests through the end of the Junior World Cup on
August 12th, make your requests in advance with Andre Brin, Hockey Canada’s Manager, Communications who is
traveling with the team. Make these requests well in advance either by e-mail (abrin@hockeycanada.ca) or by leaving a phone message at
403-777-4557. Post-game interview requests for August 12th should be made prior to the game. We
will do our best to accommodate all requests within the team’s schedule and in light of the significant time
zone difference.
