The Prince Albert Mintos downed the host Charlottetown Islanders 4-1 to end day four of intense Telus Cup action.

Prince Albert got on the board first after Colton Graf took a shot through Charlottetown defenseman Kendal Hackett’s skates, beating screened Islanders keeper Andrew MacRae.
Minutes later Ryan Gareau added to the Mintos lead with a bullet shot into the top corner.

But the Islanders wouldn’t disappoint their home crowd in the opening period.

After two bone-rattling hits by Charlottetown’s Josh McKinnon, the big Islanders defenseman charged coast-to-coast, eventually snapping a low shot past Karsten Felske into the bottom corner.

Mintos forward Brendan Turner answered back with an individual drive of his own. Fending off a defenseman with one arm, Turner jammed the puck past MacRae, who would consequently be replaced by backup goalie Chris Dalziel.

The second period proved scoreless despite a number of Mintos chances. Prince Albert out shot the hosts 23-14 after 40 minutes.

The scoreless drought ended midway through the third when Mintos Jadon Potter showed great patients in front of the net after a scramble, and fed teammate Tommy Brown who sniped his teams fourth of the game.

A penalty shot was awarded to the Mintos after a streaking Turner was hauled down on a breakaway.

Turner calmly skated in on the penalty shot, but was shut down by Chris Dalziel after shutting the 5-hole.

The game ended 4-1 in favor of Prince Albert with the Mintos out shooting the Islanders 34-18 after three periods of play.

Players of the game honors were awarded to Mintos goalie Karsten Felske and Islanders captain Greg Paynter.
