HOCKEY CANADA OPENS BID PROCESS
FOR 2007 AND 2008 EVENTS

CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada announced on Friday that it has opened the bid process that will determine the host cities for 2007 and 2008 Hockey Canada events.

Bid Guidelines are currently available for the following 2007 and 2008 Hockey Canada events:

2007 World Junior A Challenge
2007 Women’s Under 18 Hockey Championship
2008 Under 17 World Hockey Challenge
2008 TELUS Cup (regional rotation – 2008 Central – OHF, ODHA)
2008 Esso Women’s Nationals

Hockey Canada Bid process timelines are as follows:

March 6th, 2006 – Deadline for Submission of Letter of Intent
March 25th, 2006 – Deadline for Written Bid Document Submission to Host Branch
April 14th, 2006 – Deadline for Branches to Submit One Bid to Hockey Canada
April 14th – May 19th – Bid Review Process
May 19th – May 23rd – Site Selection Approval and Announcement

For each event the Site Selection Committee is made up of the respective Hockey Canada Council Director and Council Officer as well as Scott Smith, Hockey Canada’s Vice President of Hockey Operations.
