TORINO, ITALY – The Canadian Women’s Olympic centralized team finished the Torino Ice pre-Olympic round
robin with a perfect 3-0 record after a 5-0 victory over the USA on Thursday. The two teams will face each
other again on Saturday, November 12th at 5 pm (local)/ 9 am (Eastern) at the Palasport Arena in Torino,
Italy.
Canada opened the tournament by defeating Sweden on Monday 3-1. After a day of rest, Canada was victorious
over Finland 3-1 before finishing out the round robin with a 5-0 win over the USA.
The USA and Canada have met on five previous occasions this season, with Canada holding a 5-0 record. The
last time these two teams met, prior to the Torino Ice Tournament, was October 6th and 8th in Regina and
Saskatoon, SK where Canada took both games by scores of 3-2 and 6-0.
“It has been an incredible experience to play here in Torino, and get a preview of what things will be
like at the Olympic Games,” said head coach Melody Davidson. “The atmosphere in both rinks this week has been
amazing. I think it has really helped prepare the players for what it will be like at the games.”
Team Canada will travel back to Canada on Sunday, November 13th arriving in Calgary, AB on flight AC845 at
4:10pm (Mountain Time) and will resume training on Tuesday, November 15th.
Team Canada will play seven more pre-Olympic international games in North America prior to the Winter
Olympics, including three games against Sweden in Alberta on December 10th, 11th, and 13th. The final
pre-Olympic game in Canada will be at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB versus USA on January 1st. (Tickets for

In preparation for the 2006 Winter Olympics, Canada has played 26 games to date, with an overall record of
19-6-1, including 13-0 versus international teams.
