Stanislav Polodna’s two shootout goals gave the Czech Republic a bronze-medal victory at the World
Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
As Polodna fired his shot through Pacific goalie Scott Orth’s legs, the entire Czech bench flooded the ice

CHALLENGE DRAWS SCOUTS FROM NEAR AND FAR
It isn’t hard to find a hockey scout at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Hundreds of professional, junior and collegiate teams sent scouts to the tournament. Bob Lowes a scout for
the Brandon Wheat Kings and former coach of Canada’s national Under-18 team has not been to the World
Under-17 Challenge before, but he has good reason to be in Regina. Four West players and one from Pacific are
Wheat Kings prospects, selected in the WHL Bantam Draft. » more

GERMANS SEEK A BETTER FATE
Alexander Oblinger is a shy and soft-spoken man off the ice. The German forward prefers to do most of his
talking on the ice.
The Czech Republic found this out the hard way when Oblinger netted three goals against them at the World
Under-17 Hockey Challenge — including successful spinarama backhand shot while falling to the ice.
Oblinger hoped he would be able to continue his good fortune, but also deliver a win for the winless
