ONTARIO CHAMPIONS - TORONTO AEROS
The Toronto Aeros have officially dethroned the Thunder Bay Queens from their spot at the top, stealing away
the Ontario Women's Hockey Association Midget AA provincial championship title from the team that won it last
season and then moved on and up to win the 2010 Esso Cup in Regina, Sask. last April. The 2011 Esso Cup will
mark the first appearance for the Toronto Aeros at Canada,s National Female Midget Championship, which enters
its third season. Ontario representatives the Scarborough Sharks won the silver medal at the inaugural
tournament in Calgary, Alta., in 2009. The Aeros compete in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League, where they
currently sit in first place of the central division with 22 games played, 16 wins, two losses, four ties and
36 points total. So far this season, the Midget AA Toronto Aeros have won gold at the 2011 Ottawa Senators
Winterlude Showcase, with seven straight wins, and at the 2010 Sarnia Silver Stick tournament, winning all
six round robin and final games. |
