CALGARY, ALBERTA – Twenty-four of Canada's best sledge hockey players have been invited to attend Canada's
2005-06 National Men’s Sledge Hockey Team’s Final Selection Camp in Ottawa, ON, June 10-12, 2005, Hockey
Canada announced on Thursday.
This final selection camp is the last step in the selection of Canada’s National Sledge Hockey Team that
will compete at the 2006 Paralympic Games in Torino, Italy from March 10 to 18, 2006. A final roster of 15
players will be selected to represent Canada. Canada finished 4th at the 2002 Paralympic Games and took
home the silver medal at the 1998 ‘Games in Nagano, Japan and the bronze medal at Lillehammer, Norway in
1994.
All practices will be held at the Bell Sensplex Arena in Kanata, ON and are open to the public free of
charge.
Canada’s Sledge Hockey Team is fresh off their silver medal performance at the 2005 World Cup in Arvada,
CO. The three step final selection process began on May 8th, 2005 when the National Men’s Sledge Hockey
Team held Western Tryouts in Calgary, AB. The Team then proceeded to a Central/Easter tryout camp that
was held on June 4th in Vaughan, ON, and then this final selection camp in Kanata, ON.
Head Coach of Canada’s Sledge Hockey Team, Jeff Snyder of Elmira, ON, and assistant coaches Shawn Frydberg
of Concord, ON and Mark Gallant from Nepean, ON will oversee the camp and the selection process.
