CAM BARKER DIAGNOSED WITH MONONUCLEOSIS

GRAND FORKS, ND – Canada’s National Junior team announced on Thursday evening that defenceman Cam Barker has been diagnosed with mononucleosis and will be unable to participate in the remainder of the 2005 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Barker will return to Winnipeg on Friday.

Barker did not play in Canada’s game versus Finland on Thursday evening.  IIHF regulations state that teams can not add additional players due to sickness or injury (unless a goaltender) once a team has declared the maximum 22 players, therefore Canada’s roster will now remain at 21 players.
