CANADA’S NATIONAL JUNIOR TEAM
TRIMS ROSTER TO 30 PLAYERS

KITCHENER (ONTARIO) - Canada's National Junior Team trimmed its roster to 30 players on Sunday morning by releasing five players and returning them to their respective Canadian Hockey League teams. Players released were:

• André Benoit (Kitchener, OHL)
• Marc-André Bernier (Cape Breton, QMJHL)
• Adam Courchaine (Vancouver, WHL)
• Maxime Daigneault (Val d’Or, QMJHL)
• Eric Fehr (Brandon, WHL)

Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp roster now stands at 30 players (4 goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 16 forwards). The six-day selection camp serves to choose the team that will represent Canada at the 2004 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Helsinki and Hameenlinna, Finland from December 26, 2003 - January 5, 2004. The team will take 22 players - 20 skaters and two goaltenders - to the World Junior Championship.

Team Canada’s Head Coach Mario Durocher (Lewiston MAINEiacs, QMJHL), with assistant coaches Dean Chynoweth (Seattle Thunderbirds, WHL) and Jim Hulton (Kingston Frontenacs, OHL), along with Blair Mackasey, Hockey Canadas Head Scout, have been evaluating the players through daily work-outs and intra-squad games.
Canada's National Junior Team returns to the ice on Sunday morning with a 10:15 am (Eastern) practice at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium (The Aud).

Canada will play two more exhibition games before naming it’s final roster. Both games will be against an OUA All-Star Team at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Sunday, December 14th and on Monday, December 15th. Both games will start at 6 pm (ET). Tickets are available on-site and by calling 1-800-265-6368. (Rogers Sportsnet will broadcast both games – check local listings).
