Knights' Perry scores twice for Canada in 6-3 win over U of Manitoba
WINNIPEG - Corey Perry of the London Knights had two goals and an assist to lead Canada's national junior hockey team to a 6-3 exhibition win over the University of Manitoba on Wednesday.
Clarke MacArthur of the Medicine Hat Tigers had a goal and an assist. Kingston's Anthony Stewart, London's David Bolland and Moose Jaw's Dustin Boyd also scored for Canada.
Portland Winter Hawks defenceman Braydon Coburn had two assists. Tigers Cam Barker and Stefan Meyer and Knights' defenceman Danny Syvret also had assists.
Manitoba captain David Cameron, Grant Jacobsen and Jordan Little, who was chosen this week for an NHL tryout with the Edmonton Oilers on CBC's Making The Cut, scored for Manitoba before a crowd of 4,582 fans.
Devan Dubnyk of the Kamloops Blazers started for Canada and stopped six-of-nine shots before Jeff Glass of the Kootenay Ice took over and stopped the five he faced.
Rejean Beauchemin of the Prince Albert Raiders made 16 saves on 19 shots for Manitoba before giving way to Medicine Hat's Kevin Nastiuk, who stopped 18 of 21 shots.
Head coach Brent Sutter will name the Canadian team Thursday.
