TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – VALLEY WILDCATS
Just how good were the Valley Wildcats during the 2012-13 season? They finished with more points than they had in the last two years – combined. After winning 12 games in both the 2010--12 seasons, the Wildcats had 29 this year, thanks in large part to a defence that allowed a league-low 71 goals, an average of just more than two a game. Not surprisingly, Valley’s two goaltenders finished one-two in goals-against average, with Justin Ritcey’s 1.76 slightly ahead of Michael Pettet’s 2.15 mark. Up front, Nicholas Blanchard led the NSMMHL in goals and points with 37 and 73, respectively, pacing an offence that scored a league-leading 170 goals, 20 more than any other team, despite having only three players in the top 20 of NSMMHL scoring.
