TRAIL, BC – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Junior A Hockey League (CJAHL), has announced that seven games in Trail at the upcoming World Junior A Challenge, including the three round-robin games in Trail, one quarterfinal, both semi-finals and the bronze medal game will be available via webcast at www.hockeycanada.ca.

The 2007 World Junior A Challenge runs from November 5-11 in Trail and Nelson, BC. Single game tickets for all games at the 2007 World Junior A Challenge are on sale now.

The webcasts will cost $6.95 per game, and can be accessed from the front page of the Hockey Canada website at www.hockeycanada.ca. Play-by-play for all three round-robin games in Trail, the quarterfinal and bronze medal games will be provided by Trail Smoke Eaters play-by-play announcer Shawn Mullen of Mountain FM. Semi-final play-by-play will be provided by Ian Douglas, the former play-by-play man for the Smoke Eaters.

The webcasts will begin with the Canada East vs. Russia exhibition game at 7:30 p.m. (PT) on Saturday, November 3rd and run through the bronze medal game on Sunday, November 11th (game time to be announced).

"Pay-per-view is of high interest to sports fans today, and the amount of participation is growing rapidly,” says Garry Welch, CEO of INSINC, who will be providing the webcasts. “When your favourite team or players are out of town, PPV provides them with a convenient way for them to follow their favorite team. This program will be a valuable service to those who either missed a game or would like to view a game a second time. It is great entertainment."

“We are very excited to be able to bring the excitement of the World Junior A Challenge via webcast to those hockey fans across Canada who won’t have the chance to see the games live,” says Laury Ryan, president of the CJAHL. “This is an opportunity to showcase Junior A hockey from coast to coast.”

The gold medal game will be broadcast on tape delay on TSN/RDS, the official broadcaster of Hockey Canada, on November 18. Check your local listings for broadcast times in your area.

All of the webcasted games will originate from Cominco Arena in Trail, BC, which is hosting the event along with Nelson, BC.
