CALGARY – Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League, announced the addition of Gatineau Olympique (QMJHL) forward Claude Giroux (Hearst, ON) to the National Junior Team Development Camp Roster. Canada’s National Junior Team Development Camp will run from July 21st through the 29th in Calgary at the Father David Bauer Arena.
Newly appointed Hockey Canada Head Scout Jim Hammett added Giroux to the National Junior Team Development Camp Roster when Vancouver Giants forward Gilbert Brule, through the Columbus Blue Jackets, notified Hockey Canada that he has chosen not to attend the camp.
Giroux was selected in the first round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, by the Philadelphia Flyers (22nd overall). In his rookie season with the Gatineau Olympique.
Last year, Giroux scored 39 goals, added 64 assists for 103 points in 69 games, which was the highest total for any rookie in the QMJHL, finishing 11th overall in league regular season scoring.
Fans are invited to come out and watch all the action at the National Junior Team Development Camp with all ice sessions open to the public free of charge.

Canada’s National Junior Team Camp is made up of 44 of the top Canadian under-20 players. The Development Camp roster features 44 players: four (4) goalies, sixteen (16) defencemen, and twenty-four (24) forwards.
