It’s not too late to support your favourite national junior team. There are tickets still available for the 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship.

As of Monday, December 26, single seat tickets for Canada’s game against Finland, and multiple seat tickets for the USA vs. Norway game, were still available several hours before game time.

Tickets were also still available for the Latvia and Czech Republic match-up in Kamloops. The Russia vs. Sweden game in Kelowna was completely sold out.

Organizers had announced back in March that all games had been sold out, but that total included tickets reserved for teams. As the games draw closer, teams will release some of the tickets for fans to purchase.

“We had some of the teams release tickets for games last week and these should be available as soon as possible,” said Stu Ballantyne, general manager of the 2006 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

According to Ballantyne, tickets for the four games in Kamloops remain available. “They are rare but they are available,” said Ballantyne.

Tickets for Kamloops and Vancouver are available through Ticketmaster at 604-280-4400 or ticketmaster.ca. All the games in Kelowna remain sold out.

Prices for entry into the arena range anywhere from $29-$47 CDN.

Tickets for most of Canada’s games remain tough to come by, but there is one last hope for Canadian fans in Vancouver: the game versus Switzerland on December 28.

For fans with extra tickets they cannot use, there are options available. The 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship Tickets For Kids Program allows fans to help children who might not otherwise have a chance to see a World Junior game live. Fans can drop off their extra tickets at any of the three arena box offices up to four hours before game time. And the good deed does not go unrewarded. Those who donate their tickets will be included in a raffle draw for two gold medal game tickets in Vancouver on January 5.
