Canada Adds Two Players to 2002 World Championship Roster Karlstad, Sweden

Team Canada General manager Lanny McDonald announced on Friday that two players had been added to the roster.

Dallas Stars defenceman Darryl Sydor will re-join Team Canada in Sweden. Sydor had originally been named to the team an had traveled to Sweden on Saturday and will be officially added and be available to play in time for Canada's quarter-final game on Tuesday, May7th 2002.

The native of Edmonton, AB had 33 points in 2001-2002, including 19 power play assists, a team high. Sydor will be representing Canada for a fourth time in international competition, having played in the 19 World Championships, winning a gold medal in 1994, and played for Canada at the 1992 World Junior Hockey Championship.

Canada also announced the addition of Jamie Ram, as Canada's third goaltender. Ram, a native of Scarborough, ON. Played for Canada's National Men's Team in 1999-2000. In 2001-2002, Ram played with Jokerit in the Finish Elite League, where he won the league championship and was named the playoff MVP.

Canada's roster will stand at 23 players (3 goaltenders. 8 defensemen, and 12 forwards).

Canada (4-0-0) has won all four games they have played so far in this year's championship. Canada plays Switzerland on Friday (10am ET/7am PT) and Czech Republic on Sunday (1pm ET/10amPT). Canada has qualified for the sudden-death quarter-final round, which will be played on Tuesday.

All of Canada's games are broadcast live on TSN/RDS, the official broadcaster of the CHA.
