SAPPORO, Japan -- Ron Pasco of Gloucester, Ont., scored twice to pace Canada's National Team to a 4-0 victory over the Kushiro Cranes of the Japanese Professional League as Canada's six-game tour of Japan wound up on Thursday night.

Canada finished with a 5-1-0 won-lost-tied record during the series, which saw them play five games against the Japanese National Team that will compete in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. Canada finished with back-to-back shutouts, 7-0 over the Japanese National Team and Thursday's blanking of the Cranes. Goaltender Jordan Willis recorded both shutouts.

George Zajankala, of North Delta, B.C., and Steve Junker of Castlegar, B.C., also scored for Canada, while Xavier Majic of Fernie, B.C., had a pair of assists. Canada outshot the Cranes 42-22.

Team Canada returns to its home base at the Royal Bank Canadian Hockey Centre at Calgary's Father David Bauer Arena on Friday to begin a three-week training block to prepare for a swing through Newfoundland and Atlantic Canada from March 23 - April 5. That series will include games against the Czech Republic from March 23-26 as well as the Cabot Cup tournament in St. John's, Nfld., which will include the Czechs and the German national team. The tournament runs from March 27-30.

The club will then play four games against the German national team from April 1-5. Defenceman Jeff Tory of Coquitlam, B.C., returned to Canada in advance of his teammates after suffering a broken right wrist in Canada's 4-3 loss to the Japanese National Team on Feb. 21.
