WAKEFIELD IN ON EVERY GOAL, LEADS RED TO VICTORY

TORONTO, Ont. – Jennifer Wakefield (Pickering, Ont./Boston University, HE) had a hand in every goal for Red – scoring twice and adding two assists – as it scored its second intrasquad win in as many nights with a 4-2 victory over White on Monday at the National Women’s Team selection camp.

Caroline Ouellette (Montreal, Que./Montreal, CWHL) followed up Sunday’s three-point performance on another on Monday, finishing with a goal and two assists, as Red assured itself of a series win ahead of Tuesday’s camp finale at the MasterCard Centre (7 p.m. ET).

Red’s power play had a trio of chances in the first period, and finally converted on its third opportunity when a point shot from Stefanie McKeough (Carlsbad, Ont./University of Wisconsin, WCHA) found its way through a screen and past Kim St-Pierre (Chateauguay, Que./Montreal, CWHL) for a 1-0 Red lead through 20 minutes.

Wakefield pushed the lead to two just past the eight-minute mark of the second period, and she restored the two-goal advantage at 3-1 after Jocelyne Larocque (Ste. Anne, Man./University of Minnesota Duluth, WCHA) had put White on the board just eight seconds after Wakefield’s first goal.

Wakefield set up Ouellette midway through the third period to give Red its largest lead of the game at 4-1 before Hayley Wickenheiser (Shaunavon, Sask./University of Calgary, CIS) rounded out the scoring for White, beating Shannon Szabados (Edmonton, Alta./Grant MacEwan University, ACAC) in the dying minutes.
