2014 IIHF Ice Hockey Junior World Championship

A tribute to Canadian hockey fans

As a big hockey fan, I went to see the World Junior Championships in Malmö, Sweden. Great expectations to watch some of the best junior players in the world and I wasn't disappointed.

But, I got give all the credit in the world to the big great group of Canadians fans who came here. You were very nice and much appreciated by all of us attending the games, around town and elsewhere you went.

I happened to stay at one of the many hotels Canadians large group of fans had booked. Must have been nearly 3000 people altogether in different tour groups.

I met many of you and always had a nice conversation. You cheered your team with great pride and enthusiasm. Never said a bad word about the opponents. Since I've followed NHL, minor & junior hockey very closely since the days of Bobby Orr, I am very familiar with North American hockey.

Many great memories came to mind and were spoken about. One thing I'm sure of and want you to know. Canadian hockey fans are the greatest ambassador of the great game of hockey and the great proud country of Canada.

From all parts of Canada, fans came to Sweden to cheer Team Canada. I remember answering a text message after a game, a pal asking how the game was? I texted back. It was great. It was  Switzerland vs Canada, four referees, me and 2500 Canadians. I will never forget this week for as long as I live. I flash a sea of red colors and red/white flags and hearing a thunderous "go Canada go."

From the bottom of my heart and deepest respect.

Best of luck in the Olympics and Thank you Canada.
