TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – KENSINGTON WILD

For the first time in the past five years, the Moncton Flyers were not regular-season champions of the N.B./P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League. The Kensington Wild won its final six games to edge the Saint John Vito’s – the 2016 TELUS Cup hosts – by a single point and the Fredericton Caps by two. The Wild’s league-best 164 goals scored and a perfect 6-0 record in the month of December helped the team take top spot in the NBPEIMMHL. The Wild had the league’s top scorer, Brodie MacArthur, who put up 20 goals and 40 assists and was held off the scoresheet only twice in 35 games. T.J. Shea (54 points) and Frank Fortin (41 points) joined him among the league’s scoring leaders, finishing second and fifth, respectively.
