ST. PETERSBURG, Russia – Hockey fans will have a chance to bid on their favourite Team Canada game-worn jerseys from the 2016 IIHF World Championship beginning this weekend as part of an online auction benefitting the Hockey Canada Foundation.

The auction opens at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday, May 14, and fans and collectors alike can vie for jerseys worn exclusively by Canada’s National Men’s Team, which remains undefeated through the first three games of preliminary-round action at the IIHF World Championship, and faces Germany today at 1 p.m. ET; catch all of the action on TSN (broadcasting all 64 tournament games) and RDS, Hockey Canada’s official broadcast partners, and on TSN Radio and the TSN GO app.

“The Hockey Canada Foundation’s mission is to promote and foster accessibility to the game of hockey. All of the money raised through this online auction will go directly back into initiatives that help ensure Canada remains at the forefront in the development and promotion of the game across the country,” said Al Coates, Hockey Canada Foundation. “This is a chance to bring home a little piece of the magic our team is creating in Russia as Canada defends its world title.”

The auction closes May 23, 2016.

Team Canada went undefeated at the 2015 IIHF World Championship in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic, on its way to its first gold medal in eight years. Since 1931, Canada has won the world championship 19 times – not counting the years when Olympic Winter Games gold-medallists were also considered world champions. The country has also collected 11 silver medals and six bronze in that timespan.
