TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – NORTH BAY TRAPPERS
It has been a long time since the North Bay Trappers topped the GNML regular-season standings, having finished higher than third place only once in the last 10 years. North Bay shook off its lone two-game losing streak of the season from Jan. 15-24 to win its final four games, finishing with a six-point lead over the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves for top spot. The Trappers started strong, going without a regulation loss in their first 17 games, including 10-consecutive wins from Oct. 8 to Nov. 19. The offence finished third in the GNML, and it was scoring by committee; seven players hit the 30-point mark, led by Jake Gravelle (45 points, ninth in league scoring). On the back end is where North Bay excelled; the Trappers allowed only 74 goals in 36 games, and the tandem of Joel Rainville (1.66 GAA, 5 SO) and Drew Joyal (2.37 GAA) finished one-two in goals-against average.
