CALGARY, Alta. – Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp kicks off on August 1st at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. The camp is part of the Hockey Canada National Teams’ Summer Showcase, which will see 193 men and 86 women hit the ice as invitees to the summer camps – including 40 players looking to find a berth on Canada’s National Junior Team.

Ryan Jankowski, director of player personnel for Hockey Canada, was responsible for all player selection, with input from coaches and general managers from across the Canadian Hockey League

Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp

From Aug. 1-6, 40 players – three goaltenders, 13 defencemen and 24 forwards – will participate in practices on Aug. 1-2 before playing two games each against the Czech Republic (Aug. 4 and Aug. 6) and Russia (Aug. 3 and Aug. 5) at the Markin MacPhail Centre. All four games will be televised on TSN and RDS.

Jankowski will continue to monitor these players and other potential candidates during the first few months of the 2015-16 season and at the CHL Super Series to determine who will be invited to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp in December. In total, 22 players will be selected to represent Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2015 to Jan. 5, 2016 in Helsinki, Finland.

Tickets to the four Team Canada games are available online. Four-game ticket packages can be purchased for $40 each (CLICK HERE), and single-game tickets are available for $15 (CLICK HERE).
