Hockey Canada and eBay offer fans chance to bid on game-worn jerseys from 2014 Olympic Winter Games

CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada and eBay.ca will launch the 2014 Olympic Winter Games auction Friday, Feb. 14 at 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT. Up for auction are game-worn red jerseys from Canada’s National Men’s Team and game-worn red jerseys from Canada’s National Women’s Team in Sochi, Russia.

Canada’s National Men’s Team roster for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games includes 11 players who helped Canada win gold at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games (Bergeron, Crosby, Doughty, Getzlaf, Keith, Luongo, Marleau, Nash, Perry, Toews, Weber), and a combined 16 IIHF World Junior Championship gold medals.

Canada’s National Women’s Team roster for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games includes 12 players who helped Canada win gold at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games (Agosta-Marciano, Apps, Hefford, Irwin, Johnston, Labonté, Mikkelson, Ouellette, Poulin, Szabados, Ward, Wickenheiser), and 19 who were a part of the last Canadian team to win the gold medal at the IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship in 2012.

Proceeds from the sale of game-worn jerseys will be shared by the Hockey Canada Foundation and Canadian Olympic Foundation.

The mission of the Hockey Canada Foundation is to support Hockey Canada by promoting and fostering accessibility to the game of hockey. Proceeds from this auction will support Hockey Canada Foundation initiatives that help ensure Canada remains at the forefront in the development and promotion of amateur hockey as well as creating access to the game.

The auction will last 10 days, closing Feb. 24, 2014. Shipment will commence for paid items on March 14, 2014.
