THEN: The Top Goaltender at the previous season’s RBC Cup and a sixth-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Allen York served as a more-than-capable back-up for Canada West at the 2007 World Junior A Challenge. He saw action in only one game in Trail, B.C., coming in for the final 14 minutes of the tournament-opening 7-2 victory over Germany, giving up one goal on seven shots. York then watched from the bench as Canada West rode the all-star goaltending of Bradley Eidsness to its second gold medal in as many years.

NOW: York returned to Camrose and led the Kodiaks to the RBC Cup for the second season in a row, becoming the first player in history to be named Top Goaltender at the National Junior A Championship in back-to-back years. Following his Junior A career, York joined the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute men’s team for three seasons of NCAA hockey, earning a spot on the ECAC Second All-Star Team in 2009-10, before turning pro following his junior year. Signed to an entry-level contract by the Blue Jackets, York was called up to Columbus on Oct. and made his NHL debut six days later when starter Steve Mason was hurt in the first period of a game against Detroit. He spent the majority of the 2011-12 season with Springfield (AHL) and Chicago (ECHL) and was recalled to the NHL late in the season, recording his first career victory with 29 saves in a 4-2 win over Detroit on March 28.
