A handful of Hockey Canada’s top power players took a breather from board meetings held recently in Toronto, Ont., to show off their support for the 2012 National Women’s Under-18 Championship, coming to Dawson Creek, B.C., this November.

BC Hockey president Wilf Liefke, Hockey Canada president and CEO Bob Nicholson, Hockey Canada female council director Joanne Hughes and Hockey Canada board chairman Mike Bruni smiled proudly as they displayed event T-shirts for impromptu photographer Barry Reynard, who also happens to be Hockey Canada’s hockey development council director and director of community services for the City of Dawson Creek.

Hockey Canada board meetings took place earlier this month at the Westin Harbour Castle in downtown Toronto, where the organization’s most influential figures discussed the upcoming season, including growing excitement surrounding this year’s National Women’s Under-18 Championship, being held for a fourth time in British Columbia. Surrey welcomaed the event in 2009, while Salmon Arm hosted both the January 2005 and November 2005 editions of the tournament.

The National Women’s Under-18 Championship takes place Nov. 7-11 at the EnCana Events Centre in Dawson Creek, with Ontario Red has looking for its eighth straight gold medal. All preliminary round games, as well as the semifinals and bronze medal game, will be webcast at hockeycanada.fasthockey.com, while the gold medal game will be broadcast on TSN/RDS, official broadcasters of Hockey Canada.

Full event ticket packages for access to all 18 games are available for $99, plus applicable fees, by clicking HERE.
