LLOYDMINSTER, Sask. – After winning their semifinals on Friday, the South East Prairie Thunder and Rosetown Red Wings will meet for the 104th Allan Cup, Canada’s National Senior Championship, on Saturday at the Centennial Civic Centre. The championship game can be seen on TSN2 beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Check your local listings for broadcast times in your area.

South East defeated the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts 7-2 in Friday’s early semifinal, while Rosetown topped the host Lloydminster Border Kings 5-1 in the late game.

Saturday’s game will mark the second championship game appearance in four years for the Prairie Thunder, which lost 4-3 in double overtime to the Bentley Generals in the 2009 final, while the Red Wings are in the championship game for the first time ever.

The final is a rematch of Monday’s tournament opener, won 2-1 by South East.

In the early semifinal, Riley Dudar scored twice and added an assist for the Prairie Thunder, which led 3-0 after one period and 6-1 after two en route to the final. Tim Plett added a goal and two assists and Justin Harris made 30 saves for South East, which has yet to lose a game at this year’s tournament.

In the late game, Carter Smith had a goal and two assists to lead the Red Wings, who quieted the home crowd by scoring three times in the first 12 minutes and led 4-1 after the first period. Casey Lee and Danny Williams also had multiple-point games for Rosetown, contributing a goal and an assist each.

The Allan Cup is one of the oldest club-team hockey competitions in North America, having been first competed for in 1908. Only once in the past 105 years, in 1945, has an Allan Cup champion not been crowned.
