Canada's National Men's Under-18 Team Advances to Quarter-Finals at 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World U18 Championship

BRNO, Czech Republic – Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team has earned a place in the quarter-finals at the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World U18 Championship, finishing third in Group A with a 2-2 record. Canada had victories over the Czech Republic (6-2) and Denmark (6-1) and losses to Finland (4-2) and the United States (5-3).

Canada will play Russia in Breclav on Thursday, April 19 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, a game which can be seen live on TSN and RDS, Hockey Canada’s official broadcasters (check your local listings). With a win, Canada would advance to a semifinal against the United States on Friday.

Canada is attempting to win its third gold medal at the IIHF Ice Hockey World U18 Championship, having previously taken home the top prize in 2003 in Yaroslavl, Russia, and 2008 in Kazan, Russia.

TSN/RDS, the official broadcasters of Hockey Canada, will broadcast Canada’s quarter-final game on Thursday, April 19, a semifinal on Friday, April 20 and both medal games on Sunday, April 22. Check your local listings for game times in your area.
