BRATISLAVA, Slovakia – Hockey Canada and ebay.ca will launch the 2011 IIHF World Championship auction on May 10.  Twenty-four Team Canada game-worn jerseys from the 2011 IIHF World Championship will go up for auction.

The jerseys that are available will be one of the two sets of jerseys worn by Team Canada at the 2011 IIHF World Championship in Bratislava and Kosice, Slovakia. Which set of jerseys will be determined following the event, as players will each get one of their two game-worn jerseys following the team’s final game.

Canada’s roster at the 2011 IIHF World Championship includes multiple gold medal winners at various levels of international hockey and notable NHL stars, including:

  • Olympic and IIHF World Championship gold medalist Rick Nash
  • IIHF World Championship gold medalist Dion Phaneuf
  • Eight IIHF World Junior Championship gold medalists (Jonathan Bernier, Devan Dubnyk, Jordan Eberle, Evander Kane, Andrew Ladd, Dion Phaneuf, Alex Pietrangelo, Luke Schenn, John Tavares)
  • 2011 Calder Trophy finalist Jeff Skinner
  • 2010 Calder Trophy finalist Matt Duchene
  • Three players wearing Canada’s colours for the very first time: Marc Methot, James Reimer and Chris Stewart.

All proceeds from the sale of game-worn items will go to the Hockey Canada Foundation, to assist with the funding of national development programs, national teams, and initiatives that promote the sport at all levels of the game.
