CANADA vs. SWITZERLAND – Women’s Hockey

After a record-breaking 18-0 romp over Slovakia in Saturday’s Olympic opener, Canada figures to face a stiffer test Monday afternoon when it faces the fifth-ranked Swiss, who held 2006 silver medalist Sweden to just three goals in their tournament-opening loss. The Canadians look to be led again by the top line of Meghan Agosta, Jayna Hefford and Caroline Ouellette – the trio combined for 16 points in Saturday’s win, including a record-tying six from Hefford.

6 p.m.

A 2008 Juno Award nominee for Best New Artist, Suzie McNeil got her big break in 2005 on the CBS reality show Rock Show: INXS, where she was among the final four artists in the running to become the new lead singer of INXS. Her first album, Broken & Beautiful, hit stores in 2007, with her follow-up, Rock-n-Roller, coming one year later. The Mississauga, Ont., native has been a huge supporter of Own the Podium 2010, with proceeds from sales of her first single, ‘Believe,’ going to the program.

7:30 p.m.

The night all Canadians have been waiting for – for the first time in Olympic history, a Canadian will be presented with an Olympic gold medal on Canadian soil. Alexandre Bilodeau earned Canada’s first gold of the 2010 Games, and the first won by a Canadian at an Olympics in Canada, in the Men’s Moguls event at Cypress Mountain on Sunday night. Watch him get his medal live, and watch a nation celebrate, on the big screens at MCHH.

Quite simply, a Canadian rock legend. Tom Cochrane first caught the public's attention in the 1980s when he was the lead singer of the popular Canadian rock group Red Rider. By the next decade, Cochrane was taking the spotlight by turning to a prolific solo career that encompassed a heavy touring schedule that carried him across Canada and saw him find favour in the United States as well. He recorded a number of albums and had some big hits, such as ‘Life Is a Highway.’ Cochrane has won seven Juno Awards, including four in 1992 – Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2008 and earned a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2009.
