Halifax to Launch Single-Game Tickets for 2008 IIHF World Championship on April 1st

HALIFAX, NS – Fred MacGillivray, event chair for the 2008 IIHF World Championship, announced today that single tickets for all Halifax games at the 2008 IIHF World Championship will go on sale to the general public beginning Tuesday, April 1st, at 9:00 a.m. (Atlantic Time).

Fans will have the opportunity to pick any game they wish to see, including the quarterfinals. Single-game tickets will be available at $74.00 and $57.00, except the quarterfinals. Quarterfinal ticket prices will be $91.00 and $74.00 (includes all taxes and service charges).

Tickets will be available at www.ticketatlantic.com, by phone at 902-451-1221 or at the Ticket Atlantic box office at the Halifax Metro Centre.

The Halifax organizing committee will continue to sell full tournament packages, five mini-packs and double-header passes for the 2008 IIHF World Championship.

In addition, Jaroslav Černý, corporate relations for Škoda Auto, was in Halifax from the Czech Republic to officially hand over the official fleet of vehicles. Škoda Auto is the official main sponsor of the IIHF World Championship and has been the main sponsor for 16 years. As part of the official main sponsor role for the IIHF World Championship, Škoda Auto will have 45 official vehicles used primarily as courtesy vehicles for the championship in Halifax and Quebec City.

The IIHF World Championship gathers the top 16 hockey countries playing 56 exciting games leading to the crowning of a world champion. In May 2008, the 72nd IIHF World Championship will come to Canada for the first time ever as it will be co-hosted by Halifax and Quebec City from May 2nd to May 18th.
