World Adult Recreation Challenge Set for Halifax

CALGARY, AB – The IIHF World Oldtimers hockey tournament is set to kick off in Halifax, NS on Monday, May 5th, an event that’s part of the 2008 IIHF World Championship.

Hockey Canada has partnered with the IIHF and other national hockey associations to put together a 47-team tournament. The bulk of the adult recreation teams are from Canada but there is some international flavour as well, with nine participating teams from Finland and others from Russia, Germany, the United States and even United Arab Emirates.

Games run Monday, May 5th right through Friday May 9th and all games will be played at St. Margaret’s Centre in Halifax. Hockey Canada also is running an IIHF World Oldtimers in Quebec City, with that tournament starting on Thursday, May 8th.
