Randell Named Captain of Team Atlantic 2008 Anthony, Critchlow, Macausland, and Yetman Named Assistant Captains
December 21, 2007

Saint John, NB - The coaching and management staff of Team Atlantic 2008, in conjunction with Hockey Canada’s Atlantic Regional Centre, announced today that Travis Randell has been named Captain of Team Atlantic’s entry at the upcoming World Under 17 Hockey Challenge in London, Ontario.

“Travis Randell is a leader on and off the ice and we are very pleased to be naming him as Captain of our team today,” stated Ken MacDougall, Head Coach for Team Atlantic. “The staff was impressed with Travis at our summer evaluation camp and we have continued to follow his progress during the first half of the season and the staff likes what they see from him as a young player in the QMJHL.”

Randell from Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador is a member of the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Randell also represented his home province at the 2007 Canada Winter Games as a member of Team Newfoundland and Labrador.

The coaching and management staff also announced that Steven Anthony, Cameron Critchlow, Devon MacAusland, and Brad Yetman have been named Assistant Captains for Team Atlantic 2008. As International Ice Hockey Federation rules only allow for a captain and two assistants to be named in each game, the Assistant Captains will rotate the assistant captaincy during the event.

“I am very pleased with the make-up of our leadership group,” added MacDougall. “Each of these players possesses a lot of skill, work ethic, character, and the drive to compete. All have experience at a high level of competition as all represented their respective home province at the Canada Games last year. We are fortunate to have quality young men like these in our program.”

Steven Anthony from Halifax, Nova Scotia is a member of the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Anthony was a member of the 2007 Nova Scotia Canada Games Hockey Team.

Cameron Critchlow from Moncton, New Brunswick is a member of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Critchlow was a member of the 2007 New Brunswick Canada Game Hockey Team.

Devon MacAusland from Moncton, New Brunswick is a member of the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. MacAusland was a member of the 2007 New Brunswick Canada Games Hockey Team.

Brad Yetman from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador is a member of the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Yetman was a member of the 2007 Newfoundland and Labrador Canada Games Hockey Team.

Team Atlantic will travel to London, Ontario on December 26th. After practicing on December 27th and playing an exhibition game against Slovakia on December 28th, Team Atlantic will play their first tournament game against Team USA on December 29th. Team Atlantic will also face off against Team West, Russia, and Germany in the round robin portion of the event.
