PRINCE GEORGE – The RBC Royal Bank Cup Host Committee will be reaching into thousands of homes in the Prince George area thanks to contracts it’s signed with the Pattison Broadcast Group of Prince George and the Prince George Citizen Newspaper. These agreements represent the first broadcast and print media partnerships the Host Committee has inked and will result in positioning the Citizen Newspaper, along with the Drive, the River & PGTV as the premier media partners for the event.

“We’re thrilled to have these companies on board and recognize the eagerness they showed in assisting us in promoting the National Championship, says Dan Rogers, co-chair of the RBC Royal Bank Cup Host Committee. “Both media outlets have been excellent to work with as we prepare to host the best-ever national championship.”

The agreements will include promotion of the event leading up to the championship, information on how to volunteer, features on the organization and some fun contests that will engage listeners, viewers and readers in the City and region.

“We are very proud to be a part of the RBC Royal Bank Cup.  Our stations and staff have made a great commitment toward the success of this event, says Ken Kilcullen, General Manager of CKPG-TV, CKDV-FM, CKKN-FM. “Along with the local committee; we are looking forward to Welcoming The Nation in May 2007.”

“I think the entire community is beginning to sense how significant this national championship is gong to be,” says Del Laverdure, General Manager of the Citizen Newspaper. “Obviously as a media outlet that’s been a part of this community since 1916, joining the effort to stage this once in a lifetime event, was a natural fit for us.”

The 2007 RBC Royal Bank Cup runs May 5-13 at CN Centre and is expected to draw hockey fans from across the country. The impact of this event for the local economy is estimated to be in excess of $1.5 million. Tickets are available online at Ticketmaster.ca or charge by phone to 614-9100.
