EVALUATION CAMP SET FOR CALGARY, AB

National Women’s Team General Manager and Head Coach Melody Davidson announced on Thursday the details for an evaluation camp at Calgary’s Father David Bauer Olympic Arena from January 15-19, 2007. Canada’s evaluation camp marks another step in the process towards naming Canada’s roster for the 2007 IIHF World Women’s Championship which will be in Winnipeg, Manitoba from April 3-10, 2007. The camp includes 22 players, including 12 Olympic gold medalists in Turin in 2006.

The coaching staff has not released or cut any players this season and will continue to monitor and evaluate a large pool of potential players prior to the naming of a final World Championship roster in March 2007. The coaching staff, along with Head Scout Wally Kozak, will continue to evaluate players over the coming months, at the National Women’s Team Evaluation Camp, at an Under-22 event in Germany in January 2007 and with the players’ respective club teams prior to naming the World Championship Roster.
