Vancouver, BC - Mere hours into the general public sales of 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship tickets, less than 2006 packages remain for the 21-game Vancouver package.

"Ticketmaster has been overwhelmed by calls this morning as they cope with the massive interest," said 2006 WJC General Manager, Stuart Ballantyne.

As of 2:00 p.m. (PT), tournament gold packages were sold out leaving limited red packages on sale. Red packages are upper bowl seats for the Pacific Coliseum and General Motors Place. Red packages are available for $550 per seat plus convenience and handling charges.

Ticket sales in Kelowna and Kamloops were also brisk today with limited availability for the 5-game $125 per seat packages at Prospera Place and Sport Mart Place.

"Clearly there is a huge appetite for hockey in all three markets," added Ballantyne. "It's hard to tell when we'll hit the sellout mark; but it could take place before Team Canada hits the ice in North Dakota."
