CALGARY – Hockey Canada and the 2006 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship host committee announced on Wednesday a series of pre-competition games that will take place in Kelowna, Powell River, Kamloops, Chilliwack and Vernon, and will feature six different nations training at various sites in British Columbia prior to the 2006 World Juniors.
Canada’s two pre-competition games in Kelowna (Dec. 20) and Kamloops (Dec. 22) were previously announced. Additional games and training sites in British Columbia for other nations participating at the 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship will be announced in the coming weeks.
“The 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship Organizing committee is glad to bring to this opportunity to communities and allow them to be apart of this major international event in British Columbia, “said Stuart Ballantyne, GM of the 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship. “Hockey Canada and the 2006 World Junior Championship Organizing Committee would like to acknowledge the support of these communities and the host committees of Vernon, Powell River, Chilliwack and Mission for hosting a pre-competition camp for the various participating countries. We had over 20 committees wanting to host pre-competition training and events, and will be announcing more games and hosting cities in the coming weeks.”

Russia – Vernon
Czech Republic – Chilliwack
Switzerland – Mission (no game only, training camp)
