VIENNA – A set of Team Canada game worn hockey jerseys from the 2005 IIHF Men’s World Hockey Championship taking place in Austria are now up for bid on eBay Canada and www.hockeycanada.ca, with net proceeds from the auction going to the funding of the preparation of Canada’s hockey teams for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy.

The eBay Canada auction is now up for bid until Monday, , visit www.hockeycanada.ca or www.ebay.ca for more details.

Hockey Canada has held similar auctions for Canada’s World Junior and World Women’s teams with great success, raising money for grass roots programs in Canada, including the Canadian Hockey Foundation and various national team preparations.

Only two sets of jerseys were worn by Team Canada at the 2005 IIHF Men’s World Hockey Championship – one set of red jerseys (23) and one set of white jerseys (23).  At the end of the 2005 Men's World Championship, the players on Team Canada will keep the game worn jersey (red) that they wore in the gold medal game.  The jersey that Team Canada did not wear in the gold medal game (white) is the set of jerseys that is a part of this auction.

Team Canada wore its white jerseys in the following games of the 2005 IIHF Men’s World Hockey Championship:

May 3 vs. Slovenia CAN 8 - SLO 0

May 7 vs. Sweden CAN 4 - SWE 5

May 14 vs. Russia CAN 4 - RUS 3 – semi-final game
