One of the key words to describe the MJHL during the current season is competitive. The League has had many one and two goal games this season and on any given night most teams can beat any other team. The Selkirk Steelers and the OCN Blizzard are the two powers at this time leading the Addison and Sherwood Divisions respectively. The Portage Terriers, Swan Valley Stampeders, Neepawa Natives, Winkler Flyers and Winnipeg Saints have all had solid seasons and will be in the thick of things as the playoffs approach.

There are several players having great seasons. Aaron Starr, a power forward with the OCN Blizzard leads the League in scoring with 47 goals in 44 games. Other top forwards include Cliff Ketchen and David Phillips of the Portage Terriers, OCN forward Michael Young and Jordan Pietrus of the Winnipeg Saints. The top goaltenders this year are Jonathan Meyer of the OCN Blizzard, Orlando Alamano of Swan Valley, D'Arcy Munro of the Winnipeg Saints and Matt Neufeld of the Winkler Flyers. Several defensemen are having great seasons. These include Riley Weselowski of the Neepawa Natives, Jared Lang of the OCN Blizzard, Skyler Berman of the Selkirk Steelers and Dave Grimson of the Swan Valley Stampeders.

The MJHL has some fantastic young players in the League this year. The top Rookies include forwards Brock Trotter of the Dauphin Kings, Brodie Dupont of Swan Valley and Mark Magnowski of the Winnipeg Saints. Top rookie defensemen this year are Beau Prokopetz and Dane Crowley of the Winnipeg South Blues. The top rookie goaltender is Stefan Drew of the Portage Terriers.
