HALIFAX, NS - Halifax will be the host site for the 2002 Royal Bank Cup, Canada's National Junior "A" Championship from May 4-12, 2002. All games will be played at the Halifax Forum.

"We are very excited to host the Royal Bank Cup in Halifax," says Honorary Chair, Fred MacGillivray. "With the hosting of the 2002 Royal Bank Cup in Halifax, and the Regional Qualifier, the Fred Page Cup, in Truro, NS April 23-28, Junior "A" Hockey in Nova Scotia will be front and centre next spring."

Tonight at 7:00 p.m. the Halifax Oland Exports will host the Antigonish Bulldogs in their 2001-2002 home opener at the Halifax Forum.

Tom Lundy, the Canadian Hockey Association's Junior Council Director has been involved in this event at a variety of levels. "Only a very small percentage of Canadian hockey players ever have the opportunity to play in a National Championship", stated Lundy. "Competing in the Royal Bank Cup is an experience that all members of each of the participating teams will cherish for the rest of their lives".

RBC Financial Group has been sponsoring the Championship for seven years. "If you want to see great hockey, the Halifax Forum is going to be the place to be in May," says Wayne Bossert, Sr. Vice President, RBC Royal Bank in Atlantic. "Plans are going full-speed ahead and we're looking forward to this being the best Royal Bank Cup yet."
