Murray also announced that forward Andrew Cassels had withdrawn himself from the team for personal reasons which leaves the roster at 22 players, including 17 NHL players, 4 National Team members and Jean-Yves Roy, a former National Team member who played professional hockey in Austria last year.

National Team members accompanying the team to Sweden are: defenceman Shayne Wright (Welland ON) and forwards Jeremy Adduono (Thunder Bay ON), Bob Maudie (Cranbrook BC) and Chris Szysky (White City ON)

Team Canada arrives in Stockholm, Sweden on April 26th where they will continue training before heading to Norway on April 29th for the World Championship.

Canada may add NHL players after the 1st round of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs, and have the option to make up to five roster changes until the medal round of the tournament, which begins on May 12th.

Canada opens the 1999 World Championship on Saturday, May 1 against Slovakia. The two game gold medal final will be held May 15th and May 16th. TSN and RDS will both televise the World Hockey Championship, beginning with Canada's first game in the second round.
